PLUS: Microsoft to pay for AI copyright infringement
Happy Friday. Probably not something you need to know first thing in the morning, but infertility affects 7% of the male population. Now, AI may be able to help solve this issue as an Australian biomedical engineer and his team have developed an AI software that can spot sperm in samples taken from severely infertile men 1000x faster than a pair of highly trained eyes. Crazy, right?

Instacart Bolsters Storefront with AI
Instacart, popularly recognized for its grocery delivery service, is pushing some tech-heavy product upgrades out the door before the big IPO debut. Today, the company unveiled a series of AI-infused enhancements to its Storefront platform, a staple for over 550 retail brands such as Costco and Price Chopper/Market 32.
“We’ve long believed the future of grocery–and commerce in general–isn’t online or in-store, it’s both. And now, more than ever, it’s being supercharged with AI.”
What’s on the shelf...and in the cart?
Conversational Search: The new addition allows customers to engage in open-dialogue questions like, “What do I need to make fish tacos?” directly in the retailer’s search bar.
AI-Boosted Smart Carts: The latest rendition of Instacart’s Caper Carts now lets customers order made-to-order items like deli sandwiches or custom cakes directly from their cart while they shop. Newly improved AI tech also enhances the speed and accuracy of the cart’s camera and weight sensors, making for a smoother shopping experience and more advanced detection of suspicious activity.
Customer experience is clearly at the top of the shopping list for Instacart. Will other grocery-delivery platforms follow suit and stock up on AI or will they check out?
Stay tuned for Instacart's IPO, slated to hit the market this month.
